Dr. Patricia Bath: Innovation with Vision
Ophthalmologist, scientist, and inventor Dr. Patricia Bath developed the Laserphaco Probe in 1981 to support a less invasive approach to removing cataracts. In 1988, she received U.S. Patent No. 4,744,360 for an apparatus for ablating and removing cataract lenses, becoming the first African American woman to receive a patent for a medical device.
This True Story Kids sweatshirt honors a trailblazer who joined medicine, engineering, and a commitment to helping people see.
